The guest artist lineup for the 43rd Annual Jazz Festival includes Grammy-winning trumpeter Nicholas Payton, Twin Cities saxophonist Kenni Holmen, violinist Randy Sabien, cellist Matt Turner, alto saxophonist Richie Cole and jazz vocalists Connie Evingson and Fred Steele. JAZZ EDUCATION SESSIONS WITH RYAN JONES:
April 5 - Tracing the Trumpet Through Jazz History April 12 - Tracing the Saxophone Through Jazz History
These sessions will trace the role and impact of the trumpet and saxophone in jazz history. Focusing on the specific contributions of various instrumentalists as they respond to and contrast with one another over this chronology, presentations will involve lecture, related audio & video clips, and open discussion. Artists considered include King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, and Ornette Coleman.
VOCAL JAZZ TAKES CENTER STAGE:
Fred Steele will contribute to the jazz club atmosphere at the Haymarket Grill to kick off the whole festival starting at 5pm on Thursday, April 15.
Vocal jazz takes center stage as well on Thursday, with Connie Evingson as the featured guest artist at the State Theater concert.

- Michael Mossman will be the featured clinician for High School and colleges.
