Guest Artist Spotlight: Grace Kelly
For the 2019 Eau Claire Jazz Festival, we welcome Grace Kelly to the stage!
Raised in Brookline Massachusetts, Grace Kelly became a national phenomenon early in her life, being dubbed something of a child prodigy. She attended the New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music, but had already developed a career as a performer by that time. She released her first CD at the age of 12 and has been touring with major artists since 14 years old; having played with such names as Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Esperanza Spalding, Ron Carter and many others.
Now at age 26, Grace Kelly holds numerous awards and accolades to her name. In 2016 she won Downbeat Magazine’s “Rising Star Alto Saxophone” award and earned the rank #2 Jazz album of the year for Trying to Figure it Out. She was also invited to play at the festivities following former president Barack Obama’s inauguration, has performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra, and has been a regular in the band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her popularity extends even into the world of film, being featured in the documentary Sound of Redemption and the television show “Bosch.”
Having played in numerous jazz festivals including those held in Detroit, Newport, Montreal and Toronto, Kelly places emphasis on education as well as performance, giving clinics and master classes in addition to teaching lessons. We at Eau Claire Jazz, Inc. looking forward to host and work with renowned artist Grace Kelly!
